Introduction
VANISHD lets you browse the internet in privacy without co-workers, bosses, friends, or family seeing what you are surfing - all without any downloads or plugins.
Covered by another web page, your web surfing viewing window is camouflaged.
Simply moving the mouse off the browser window or right-clicking instantly hides the viewing window from prying eyes and only the cover web page is left visible.
You can very easily adjust the size, shape, and location of the viewing window. Many other advanced features help further keep your web browsing private.

Getting Started
Once you are registered (free) and logged into your account, open the viewing window by clicking the Launch VANISHD button or the

logo at the top left corner of your browser window. It's that simple.
You can move the viewing window with your mouse to see any part of the hidden page.
Viewing Window Modes
The viewing window starts in "centered" mode, where it is centered on your mouse. The mouse pointer is invisible (or a crosshair in some browsers) in this mode.
Click the viewing window to switch to "interactive" mode, where you can click links on the bottom hidden page. In this mode the viewing window will move just far enough to let you click anywhere on the hidden page.
To get back to centered mode, click on the

icon in the upper right corner of the viewing window.
The viewing window also automatically returns to centered mode when you resize it (more on this in the "Resizing & Reshaping" section).
Quick Hide
One of the key features of VANISHD (and the inspiration for the name) is the ability to quickly hide the viewing window under the top cover page. There are 2 simple ways that you can hide the viewing window:
1. Move the mouse off the browser window. The viewing window disappears instantly. This comes in handy when co-workers or your boss walks by.
2. Right-click your mouse. This only works when you are in "centered" mode; if you're in interactive mode right-clicking will just do what it normally does.
Resizing & Reshaping
The viewing window can be reshaped for different content (pictures, video, text) as well as resized for privacy. There are 2 ways to change the size and shape of the viewing window:
1. If your mouse has a scroll wheel (or if you use a Mac and you use the two-finger scroll method), just scroll up and down while in "centered" mode to resize the viewing window.
2. In "interactive" mode, you can drag an edge or corner of the viewing window to change its size and shape, just like an application window. After resizing or reshaping like this, the viewing window will automatically return to "centered" mode.
The Control Bar
You can show and hide the control bar by clicking the

logo in the upper left corner.
Clicking the icon shows both the control bar and the viewing window. The control bar auto-hides after three seconds. Hiding the viewing window automatically hides the control bar too.
The

activates the advanced controls, which have their own sections below.
The two URL boxes change the hidden and cover pages, just like the location bar of your browser. Once you click on a URL box the control bar won't auto-hide in three seconds but it will hide if you right-click or move the mouse off the browser.
Grayscale & Transparency
The grayscale button on the control bar (currently only supported in Internet Explorer) changes your viewing window to black and white.
The slider bar on the control bar adjusts transparency to blend the top cover page with the bottom hidden page to make it even less obvious.
Locking the Viewing Window
In interactive mode, a

icon appears in the lower right corner of the viewing window. Clicking this locks the viewing window so it doesn't auto-hide - even if you right-click or roll you mouse off the browser. Lock your viewing window if it auto-hides when you don't want it to (this may happen when filling out some types of forms on your hidden page).
Password Protection
Available through the advanced options (the star on the control bar), password-protected mode requires your account password to access the viewing window. When you click the icon to show the viewing window, you will be prompted for your password. This is a premium feature that requires a subscription fee (it's what keeps the rest of the service free and our lights on - so please password protect away!). You can try it out for free in a one-time-use system.
You can use password protection together with stealth mode.
Stealth Mode
Available through the advanced options (the star on the control bar), stealth mode replaces the

logo that is in the top left corner of the webpage with this small icon

, which isn't even shown at all until your mouse rolls-over the top corner of the page. In stealth mode, you need to know where and what to look for to display the viewing window. This is a premium feature that requires a subscription fee (it's what keeps the rest of the service free and our lights - so please stealth away!). You can try it out for free in a one-time-use system.
