VANISHD is a website that allows anyone to hide their web surfing from prying eyes. By hiding one webpage behind another, you can feel safe that your browsing is private.
Our site is useful when you want to surf without others around you seeing what you are doing - perfect for those who work in open offices, cubicles, and other areas where you have little privacy. Do I have to download anything to my computer to use this service?
NO! All you need is a browser. Nothing to download. No plug-ins. No ActiveX controls. Nothing. This is software-as-a-service at its finest (well, at least we think so). The viewing window keeps disappearing when I use a dropdown menu.
Check out our How It Works section on "Locking the Viewing Window." In interactive mode, the
icon in the bottom right corner of the viewing window keeps it from auto-hiding itself. This feature is used specifically in instances when you DO NOT want to viewing window to disappear - even if you right-click or roll you mouse off the browser. The reason this was created was that on some websites that have drop-down menus, the viewing window sometimes disappears when you try to use the drop-downs. This isn't necessarily what you want to happen so we created this "work around" so that you could still interact with drop-down menus. We are still working on make the user-interface intuitive and useful but some things just don't always cooperate!
What additional services do you offer in your premium version?Currently, we offer Password Protection and Stealth Mode as premium services (see our How it works section for more details). Soon, we'll be rolling out some great new features and products including: proxy version for those pesky network blockers, browser plug-in (for some additional features and website support), and some really great publisher solutions so that any website owner can offer this service straight from their site for their users. Stay tuned for these!' Can I put this service on my own website?
Yes - well... very very soon! We'll have a publisher offering coming out shortly to allow website owners to offer this service to their users. The service doesn't work on some websites such as Gmail, Yahoo Mail, etc.
We feel horrible about this but it's out of our hands. There are some websites that don't allow themselves to be "hidden" in our system for varying reasons. Hopefully, you'll still find our service useful and we are constantly working to add support for more sites. Stay tuned for some of our future products that will support all sites. The service doesn't work on my browser.
Currently, we support Internet Explorer and Safari. We\'ll continue to support more browsers but hopefully, these should cover most needs. Firefox browser support is experimental and may have issues, particularly with Flash videos. My work blocks some websites inside my company - is there anything I can do?
We'll be launching some new products including a version which will be able to work with network blocks. Stay tuned. Will the websites I go to show up in my browser history, cache, and cookies?
